Chrissandra Neustaedter is a Canadian painter and pianist who believes that art and music have close ties; elements of rhythm, harmony and texture being equally present in each creative facet. Color represents melodic shape and tone, composition being primary in both.
Her work is based on textured acrylic paint that produces a rich and colorful composition. She constructs framed panels on mahogany plywood to support the weight and material composition of the paintings; next she sculpts out the black lines which protrude giving the appearance that it is carved out of the board it is painted on; then fills in the areas with more textured medium. Sometimes this texture and depth can be difficult to detect from photographs.
Tamara Thomas has been an artist all her life. She was born and raised in Sun Valley, Idaho. Many of her early pen-and-ink works depict the beauty of the alpine scenery that she loved there. She won several competitions in her early teens, and her first sale occurred when she was fifteen years old. Her college years were spent at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and Vanderbilt University in Tennessee, studying art and art education.
She is achieving recognition as a foremost trompe l’oeil muralist as well as a painter of high-realism and the Southwest.
