Artist Biography

Born and raised in Georgia, Peggy has been a Lilburn resident since 1965. Although beginning in oils in the early 1970’s, Peggy became side-tracked into the hand painted craft market, which she actively pursued for 16 years while keeping her painting skills honed. Her true passion was to paint on canvas which she returned to in 1993.

Peggy considers herself basically self taught but never forgets that her “true talent” is a gift from God.

While enjoying painting a variety of subjects Peggy uses the versatility of oils to create pictures as close to reality as possible. Whether capturing unique still life, landscapes, flower gardens or nostalgic scenes, she also seeks out historical subject matter, which reminds us of our heritage. Although anxious to preserve as much beauty and accuracy in her paintings as possible, her goal is to capture the essence of her subject matter in a way that will evoke a feeling of emotion from the viewer. A fond memory of a time past, a familiar place, a favorite color or mood.

Peggy taught art classes at her home studio for several years and for the Gwinnett Community Schools. Her work has been shown in local galleries in Lilburn, GA., Monroe, GA. And the Historic Gwinnett County Courthouse Exhibit in Lawrenceville, GA. Her series of nostalgic paintings of the quaint and historic town of Lilburn has graced the cover of three of the areas Community Phone Books. The first in the Old Town Lilburn series was chosen by the City of Lilburn to be printed on their Christmas Cards.

Peggy displays and sells her original oil paintings and limited edition lithographs and digital art prints in many art shows around the Southeast and has won numerous awards for her paintings. Her paintings grace the homes of many private collectors. She is also a member of art-exchange and her paintings can be viewed on their website, art-exchange.com.

”I see interesting painting subjects all around me and am always composing this subject matter in mind. Art is neither a job, nor a hobby, but rather a passion.”

As a full time artist, I have a strong desire to become a great artist. I know that this ambition requires a tremendous amount of work, but I am willing to put forth the effort to achieve this goal. To capture even a small part of God’s creation is a great challenge for my life.
