Sue’s God-given talent was apparent at a very young age.
She had her first oil painting lesson at the age of eight. She
continued studying with other local artists thru her high school
years. She later studied under master artists Oscar Durand and
Numael Pulido. She was taught the method called “Chiaroscuro”
which dramatically uses a strong source of light to emphasize a
painting’s center of interest. Also important was the ability to
create a mood and luminosity. Realism is what she strives for as
she paints in a style referred to as "Trompe L'oeil".
Sue continues to paint in oil and also pastel. Her goal is to stay
diverse in subject matter whether a portrait, landscape or still
life while showing a consistent style throughout.
Sue is presently represented by Maine-Art Gallery in Kennebunk,
ME as well as other local NH galleries. She was published
In the Nov-2000 issue of Pastel Artist International and in the June-
July issue of International Artist Magazine. She has also been featured
in several other publications and has been the recipient of numerous
Best in Show and First Place awards throughout her lifetime. Her work
is in collections all over the U.S. A recent piece titled “ The Long Ride
Home” was selected as a finalist in the portrait and figure category of
the 2006 Artist’s Magazine National Competition.
Sue and her husband of 28 years presently reside in Goffstown, NH.
