Zahradnik has been an art teacher for 42 years. He graduated from high school in 1950 from Wilson High and received his BS and MS degrees from Fort Hays Kansas State University. He served as a Personal Man in the U S Navy and began his teaching in Great Bend Kansas where he served as Art Teacher Supervisor in the public schools.
In 1961 he took a leave of absence and taught in Frankfurt Germany and served as Art Director of the Army Dependent Schools. He returned to Great Bend and continued as Art Supervisor for two more years before taking a position at Sterling College. He earned the title of Full Professor of Art there and remained for 26 years. In 1989 he took the position as a Fine Arts Specialist in Wichita at the Northeast Art Magnet School. For nine years he taught ceramics, 3-D Advanced painting and advanced drawing classes. After retiring in June of l999 he continues to paint and pot and exhibit his work.
He has won numerous awards in local, state, national and international exhibitions. Zahradnik is a past president of the Kansas Watercolor Society, President of the Kansas Painters West
and Director of the Kansas Federation of Art. He has conducted creative art workshops in Kansas, Texas, California and Colorado.
