Christine Garner is a native of Colorado. Her love of color and texture has shaped her unique art style. Fine detail, contemporary figures and nature, rich colors, and whimsical design are characteristic of all her work. She paints successfully in oils, pastels, and watercolors, but she is best known for her "wood-etchings". This unusual technique employs Colorado aspen and Russian birch as the canvas, a special wood-burning pen to etch detail into the wood, and various paints, stains, and gold leaf for color. Her artistic mother and father encouraged Christine's interest in both music and art at an early age. She had classical piano training from a concert pianist for ten years; then continued art studies at Visual Arts Institute in Denver, Colorado. She has worked as a professional artist since 1971. Some of her accomplishments include interpreting a Virginia composer's musical suite into paintings, and conducting the Denver Chamber Orchestra with some of her own compositions at age nineteen. She has done commissions for the Breckenridge Music Institute; inventor of the laser beam, R. Gordon Gould, David Letterman's keyboardist, Paul Schaefer; The American Ballet Company; American playwright, Guy Waldron (Dukes of Hazard); and local authors, Kathleen Morgan, Jerry B. Jenkins ("Left Behind" series). Christine has participated in numerous national art shows and exhibitions for over twenty years winning awards in fine art and mixed media. She is on file with The Franklin Mint, and was recently invited to register with "Who's Who" in Washington, D.C. Her works are shown in galleries across the U.S. and may be found in homes around the world, as well as the World Wide Web. Christine's newest endeavors include painting murals in the Broadmoor residences and businesses, as well as working with several designers on Parade of Homes in Colorado Springs and Woodland Park.
