An avid
backwoods camper, canoer, gardener, runner
and mother, Tess has an intense awareness of
nature. Painting the things that are dear to
her heart, she specializes in
impressionistic Canadian landscapes of the
wilderness, gardens, local scenes, vivid
florals and portraits. Tess’ work has become
known for its inspiring colors and unique
canvas sizes. The paintings are often
described as” happy, soothing, and full of
energy and movement.” Tess is self taught.
She attributes her ease into painting much
to her passion with photography and her
extreme love of the outdoors.

the cutting edge in both artistic concept
and technique; and she generously shares her
knowledge and skill with others. About her
work, she says, “Assuming a spontaneous
attitude when I paint allows me to follow
the paint’s flow. The use of bold colors
with a sense of discovery and excitement
inspires me to develop a personal expression
of design through a variety of geometric and
organic forms—creating a unique look in the
many layers within an image. The works a
rich in line, shape, color and texture.”

When I was
a child, my Father was digging and planting
flowers in the garden for my Mother. It was
an act of love on his part. He let me have a
small section of the garden where I was
allowed to choose, plant, nurture and share
the wonder of flowers. This early experience
with God’s creations helped me develop a
love of nature and of life. I have learned
that art and life are both processes of
constant problem solving and I enjoy the
process. Much of my art reflects this
reality.
