Text Box: Viral Marketing—Social Networking

Text Box: Where Are You Now?

Text Box: We have had a number of situations lately where a buyer is interested in artwork and we are no longer able to contact the artist.

It is important to keep your contact information, including mailing address and e-mail address current at all times!

Artists who are current members of
Art-Exchange.com have the ability to log into their account and update their own artwork information!   You can mark pieces “Sold”, update pricing, change descriptions, and much more!

A “Self-List Guide” is available from Artist Support  and it is free to update your own listings!
Sales representatives and buyers use our website as a buying and selling tool therefore it is important to keep that tool accurate.   Too often we will have a buyer for a piece of art but when we contact the artist the piece has already been sold.
You may receive a call from one of our support techs in the near future to check the accuracy of the information on our websites: www.art-exchange.com

Text Box: Without a doubt you have seen social networking icons for various social networks like Facebook, myspace, Digg, Linkedin, and Twitter.  These social icons are invading the world and also have become the hottest, most producing, method of marketing on the planet.

Even if you have never touched a computer in your life you will see the little blue twitter bird, the blue iconic “F”, or some other popular social icons in magazines, newspapers, books, and you hear about them on public radio and television!

Until recently, word of mouth has always been the number one form of marketing.  You tell your friend, they tell their friends, and before you know it some stranger on the other side of the world heard about your experience from your cousin’s boyfriend’s sister’s mother-in-law.

So what does it all mean? What IS this viral marketing stuff??

Today’s word of mouth is “Electronic word of mouth” otherwise known as viral marketing.  It is the sharing and spreading of content online and connecting everything together in your network to spread awareness.

As quoted from wikipedia.org “The buzzwords viral marketing and viral advertising refer to marketing techniques that use pre-existing social networks to produce increases in brand awareness or to achieve other marketing objectives (such as product sales) through self-replicating viral processes, analogous to the spread of pathological and computer viruses.”

A very common example of

Text Box: viral marketing is a situation like this…

You just took a video of your pet doing something absolutely hilarious.  You take your video and put it on a social networking site of your choosing, we’ll use Youtube for an example.  You then link that video on your personal website and your Facebook or maybe you just email it to a few friends.   Your friends think it’s amazing and they send it to a few of their friends, a few of those people link it to their networking sites, a few people email it to their coworkers …and before you know it everyone has seen your pet doing that silly thing it does.

What’s your point? How can this help me sell my artwork??

On average it takes a person five times seeing or hearing something before they remember that thing.  That means your name, your artwork, your website, and so on should be viewed a minimum of five times so people remember you and your work.

Facebook alone receives
an estimated 170 million logins PER DAY.  That is just one networking site.

You are missing a lot of eyes on your artwork if you are not taking advantage of the resources available.
Once you have content available for sharing you can send it through your network of friends, clients and coworkers and encourage them to keep sharing!  Remember that the bottom of every email you send is potentially a spot for sharing content! Include a link to your art-work in your emails!quarterly so that it’s considered a consistent source of information. Your customers or employees will look forward to its arrival.
