An avid
backwoods camper, canoer, gardener, runner
and mother, Tess has an intense awareness of
nature. Painting the things that are dear to
her heart, she specializes in
impressionistic Canadian landscapes of the
wilderness, gardens, local scenes, vivid
florals and portraits. Tess’ work has become
known for its inspiring colors and unique
canvas sizes. The paintings are often
described as” happy, soothing, and full of
energy and movement.” Tess is self taught.
She attributes her ease into painting much
to her passion with photography and her
extreme love of the outdoors.
Martha
Howell is a free spirited, experimental
mixed media artist who consistently stays on
the cutting edge in both artistic concept
and technique; and she generously shares her
knowledge and skill with others. About her
work, she says, “Assuming a spontaneous
attitude when I paint allows me to follow
the paint’s flow. The use of bold colors
with a sense of discovery and excitement
inspires me to develop a personal expression
of design through a variety of geometric and
organic forms—creating a unique look in the
many layers within an image. The works a
rich in line, shape, color and texture.”
Martha has been an influential art workshop
leader and mainstay of the Arlington Visual
Art Association for over thirty years. She
holds signature status in the International
Society of Experimental Artists (ISEA-NF)
and the National Society of Watercolor
Artists (SWA).
Born in Colorado Springs, Sheldon Van Etten received a God given blessing at the tender age of 4 when he began sketching trains that ran near by his home. Later he served in the Armed forces and was stationed in Germany.
While there he toured Europe and inspiration came from everywhere. As he painted he found it to be a way of earning extra money therefore charged his fellow GI’s for painting and replication of their girl friends and families along with other paintings which were contracted.
I started oil painting lessons in 1968 and fell in love with oil painting. In 1975 I begin teaching oil painting and I continue to teach today. As an internationally known landscape artist, I was selected as 1996 Artist of the year by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. I have had memberships in the Pasadena Art League, Houston Art Society, and the National Museum of Women in Arts (Washington D. C.)
I have been featured in the magazine Artists of Texas three times and appeared in Artists of America. The natural world viewed during my travels in Texas and North America has been the inspiration and the source of my art.
